#TempleMade Love Stories

Celebrate Valentine's Day with us as we share sweet stories of Temple University couples who found their perfect match on campus.

At Temple University, campus isn’t just home to academic ambition and school spirit—it’s also where countless love stories unfold. From chance encounters in the Charles Library to late-night walks around Liacouras Walk, the university’s vibrant community has seen its share of romance. Whether it’s couples who met in class or through mutual friends, these love stories weave a tapestry of connection, serendipity, and shared experiences, creating a unique chapter in the lives of students and alumni alike. We’ll explore some of the most heartwarming and memorable Temple love stories that highlight the magic of meeting the right person in a place that feels like home.

Daniel Craig, KLN ’15, LAW ’21 and Julia Sheppard, LAW 21

Dan and Julia met at Temple Law in fall 2018 and graduated in spring 2021, surviving three years of law school. They often met on the steps of the Law building before class. In 2022, Dan chose those same steps to propose, with help from their former professors. Julia thought she was returning to discuss her work as a public defender, but instead, Dan surprised her with a proposal. The couple is grateful to Temple and Temple Law for bringing them together. The two were married in 2024.

Ray Boyd, KLN ’13, and Jenna Boyd, CLA 14

Three years after they met and became friends at Temple, Ray and Jenna started dating in October of 2015. When it came to the proposal in 2018, Ray created the perfect cover story by convincing Jenna they were going to be interviewed for a Philadelphia Inquirer article about young “pet parents” that featured their dog, Dexter. Jenna asked if they could take the photos at Temple because they had never taken Dexter there and she always loved seeing dogs on campus, not knowing Ray had envisioned doing the proposal on campus as well. They got married a few months later in a private ceremony in May of 2019, and finally got the chance to celebrate with their family and friends at their wedding in October of 2021.

Jackie O’Leary, CLA ‘16 and Jon Petrina, ENG ’17

Jackie and Jon met in 2012 as freshmen at Temple, quickly becoming part of a close-knit group of friends that made Temple feel like home. While Jon spent hours in the Engineering building and Jackie at internships, their friendship grew, and they began dating in 2016. After graduation, they stayed in the Philly area, adopted a dog named Arlo (after Arlington St., where they and their friends lived), and in 2023, Jon proposed in Rittenhouse Square, surrounded by those same friends. In 2024, Jackie returned to Temple, joining the Alumni team, bringing her back to where it all began.

Vladimir and Jocelyn attended Temple at the same time but didn’t connect until after graduation. They grew up in Queens, NY and shared connections at Temple Health and a local dance school. The couple’s engagement photos were even taken by fellow alum, Clifford Harris. They tied the knot in June 2024!
